Justice League: Henry Cavill Excited To Finally See The Snyder Cut

Superman actor Henry Cavill is very excited to see the Snyder Cut of Justice League, but he can’t say anything about it beyond that it is happening.

Henry Cavill is very excited to see the famous Snyder Cut of Justice League. Fans have spent the past few years fervently campaigning for the release of the Snyder Cut, which is director Zack Snyder’s original version of the 2017 DC film. Snyder originally approached Justice League with some big plans that would lead to sequels and have major ramifications for the rest of the DCEU. However, Snyder was forced to leave the project in May 2017, and Joss Whedon stepped in to replace him. He changed so much of Snyder’s original vision, Snyder has said he estimates fans have only seen about a quarter of what he created.

After all this time, the Snyder Cut will finally be released next year on HBO Max. While an official premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, HBO Max is reportedly aiming for an early-to-mid-2021 release date. With the arrival of the Justice League Snyder Cut, fans will finally see the roles of characters like Martian Manhunter, Ryan Choi, and Darkseid. Additionally, they’ll see broader arcs for established characters like Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Superman (Cavill).

Cavill recently spoke about the Snyder Cut with Patrick Stewart as a part of Variety‘s Actors on Actors series. Stewart attempted to get more information from Cavill about this new version of Justice League, but Cavill insisted he couldn’t reveal anything beyond the fact that it is happening. However, Cavill did share his excitement for seeing the finished product. “I’m just really happy that Zack got to realize his vision,” Cavill said. “I think it’s important for a filmmaker and a storyteller to have their intended vision released and shown to the world, and I’m looking forward to seeing it myself. It’s been quite the ordeal.”

It’s certainly been an ordeal for Snyder, but it also hasn’t been the easiest ride for Cavill. Potential Justice League sequels would have featured plenty of Superman content, but when the theatrical cut disappointed, those plans fell apart. Since then, Cavill’s DCEU future has remained in limbo. While it seemed like the DCEU was preparing to leave him behind, recent reports suggested Cavill could actually return as Superman in a future film.

However, it won’t be for Man of Steel 2 or any solo Superman film. Instead, Cavill will likely appear in a supporting capacity for films like Shazam 2 or Aquaman 2. While this isn’t quite what Cavill’s fans were hoping for, it’s still an improvement from even just a year ago, when it seemed like Cavill’s days as Superman were over. Plus, now fans also have the Snyder Cut to look forward to. This version of Justice League will reportedly have a better story for Superman, so Cavill has every right to be excited. Hopefully it’ll get an official release date soon so fans and Cavill know when their waits will be over.
